Kindergarten Room
Mrs. Gunst
My name is Nichole Gunst and I am excited to be the kindergarten teacher at St. John’s! Kindergarten is a year full of learning and fun, not to mention a year of incredible change. You will be amazed as you watch your child grow as a reader, writer, mathematician, scientist, thinker, socially and so much more! This is a big step for your little ones, so allow me to share a little about myself.
I was baptized at St. John’s in Juneau, where I attended kindergarten through eighth grade. After graduating from Dodgeland High School in Juneau, I continued my education at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN and graduated in 1997. I received my first call to St. John’s Lutheran, a one room school in Bemidji, MN, to teach grades 1-7. In 1998, I married my husband Dennis and moved to the Gunst farm in Hartford, WI. God blessed us with two wonderful children who along with my husband, are passionately involved in agriculture. Together we run our family’s farm where we custom raise elite heifers and crop 250 acres of hay, soybeans, and wheat.
My call to teach at St. John’s began in 1998 when I accepted the call to teach grades 7 & 8 and serve as the remedial teacher at St. John’s in Juneau. In 2000, St. John’s then called me to teach grades 2 & 3. In 2005, I was asked to teach kindergarten. I have been blessed with the wonderful opportunity to serve St. John’s as their kindergarten teacher ever since. When I’m not teaching or planning fun things for us to do in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, being a general leader of the 4-H Herman Hornets Club, helping out around the farm, and supporting my kids at various dairy shows and activities throughout the year. Children are a blessing from the Lord. It is a joy and privilege to help you teach and train your child.
Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” This passage reminds us God has given me this amazing opportunity to teach His Word to His children. It is also God who gives me the ability to teach, guide, and nurture them. May God continue to guide and bless all we do!
I truly look forward to getting to know you and working with you and your child this school year!
