Kindergarten Room

Mrs. Gunst

Welcome to Kindergarten at St. John’s Lutheran!
My name is Nichole Gunst, and I’m so excited to welcome you to kindergarten at St. John’s! Kindergarten is a year full of learning, growth, and fun, not to mention incredible change. You will be amazed as you watch your child grow as a reader, writer, mathematician, scientist, thinker, and friend. It’s a big step, and I’m honored to be a part of it.
Let me share a little bit about myself. I was baptized at St. John’s in Juneau, where I also attended school from kindergarten through eighth grade. After graduating from Dodgeland High School, I went on to study at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, graduating in 1997. My first teaching call brought me to a one-room school at St. John’s Lutheran in Bemidji, MN, where I taught grades 1–7.
In 1998, I married my husband Dennis and moved to the Gunst family farm in Hartford, WI. God has blessed us with two wonderful children. Together, we run our family farm, custom-raising elite heifers and cropping 250 acres of hay, soybeans, and wheat. My family is deeply involved in agriculture, and I enjoy supporting them, especially at dairy shows and 4-H activities throughout the year.
I was called to teach at St. John’s in Juneau in 1998, first teaching grades 7 & 8 and serving as the remedial teacher. In 2000, I began teaching grades 2 & 3, and in 2005, I accepted the call to teach kindergarten. It’s been a joy and a privilege to serve in this role ever since!
When I’m not in the classroom or planning fun learning experiences for our kindergarteners, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, helping on the farm, and serving as secretary for the Dodge County 4-H Dairy Youth Committee.
One of my favorite Bible passages is Proverbs 22:6 “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” I am continually reminded that it is God who gives me the ability to teach, guide, and nurture His children. What an amazing opportunity to share His Word and His love every day in the classroom!
I truly look forward to getting to know you and working with you and your child this school year. Let’s make it a great one, full of learning, laughter, and growth in Christ!
Blessings,
Mrs. Nichole Gunst
